Huon Trail Touring Route Guide Huon Trail Touring Route Guide

The Huon Trail takes you through the Huon Valley, D'Entrecasteaux Channel and Bruny Island - a region of waterways and wilderness; art, craft and heritage; apple blossom and vineyards; farmers, foresters and fishermen.

Bruny Island is an island of surprises - gentle countryside, wild coastlines and a rich history. Fruit trees line the roads of the Huon and Channel district and the heart of the apple country is Huonville. Further south is Geeveston, close to the deep valleys where mighty eucalypts tower skyward. South again and at last the road winds down to Cockle Creek - the furthest south it's possible to drive in Australia.

Departing from Hobart, you have two ways to travel The Huon Trail. One route to Huonville, the regional centre of the Huon Valley, is via the inland route starting with the Southern Outlet Highway from the top end of Davey Street in Hobart. After exploring The Huon Trail, return via the scenic Channel Highway through Kettering, Margate and Kingston.

Alternatively you can head off from Hobart through Sandy Bay and Taroona hugging the water on the Channel Highway.
